How do you clean a combine after harvest?
A combine at the end of harvest is a different job from washing a tractor. It has chaff and crop residue packed into every enclosed space, and most of that material is not visible from the ground.
Post-harvest combine cleaning works from the inside out. Do I need to provide water and power?
We provide our own water supply and power. Some farms have a hydrant and power at the shed, and some jobs are out where there is nothing. Tell us what is available at the site when you schedule so the crew arrives ready.
Will pressure washing damage monitors, sensors or wiring?
Not when the person holding the wand knows where those things are. Displays, control modules, sensors, wiring connectors, bearing seals and radiator fins are cleaned with controlled pressure, distance and hand work rather than direct blasting. Equipment operator manuals warn about exactly this, and that guidance sets the standard.
How long does a combine take?
Longer than most people expect, because residue removal is the real work and it is largely hand and blower work in tight spaces. A combine with a header, a season of chaff and a grain tank to clean out is a substantial job. Machines kept blown down through harvest go faster. Combines normally take 1 to 3 days.
Can you clean a sprayer that has had chemical in it?
Exterior cleaning of sprayer bodies, booms, frames and wheels, plus hopper and tank exteriors on spreaders, is standard work.
