What is fleet washing, and how is it different from fleet detailing?
Fleet washing and fleet detailing solve different problems, and most fleets need both.
Washing is high-frequency, high-volume surface cleaning. It removes road film, dust, bug strike, brake dust and salt before they set,It happens weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, and it happens fast.
Detailing is periodic and restorative. It resets the vehicle: interior cleaning, paint decontamination, polishing, protection, wheel and trim work. It takes longer per unit and runs on a quarterly or semi-annual cycle.

The usual arrangement is a recurring wash program with a fleet detailing cycle layered on top. The washing holds the line week to week. The detailing recovers what washing alone cannot.
What is included in a fleet wash?
Scope is agreed per account so every unit gets the same treatment on every visit. A standard fleet vehicle cleaning includes:
- Full exterior hand wash of body panels, hood, roof line and rear
- Lower panels, rockers and the areas behind the wheels where road film builds
- Wheels and tires cleaned, with brake dust removed from wheel faces
- Bug and tar removal from the front clip, bumper and mirrors
- Exterior glass and mirrors cleaned
- Graphics, wraps and DOT lettering washed by hand so film and lettering stay legible
- Steps, grab handles and door edges wiped on high-touch units
- Mud flaps, landing gear and lower rails on trailers
- Interior refresh available as an add-on: vacuum, dash wipe, interior glass

What is commercial truck washing?
Commercial truck washing is fleet washing applied to heavy equipment: tractors, trailers, box trucks, dumps, flatbeds, service bodies and buses. The surfaces are bigger, higher and dirtier, and the payoff is more visible, because a tractor-trailer is a moving billboard whether you meant it that way or not.
It covers the tractor exterior, fuel tanks, steps, fairings and the back of the cab, plus the trailer skin, rear doors, mud flaps and lower rail. Chrome and polished aluminum are cleaned as part of the wash, with restorative wheel polishing handled separately when a surface has oxidized past what washing will fix. Units needing interior work or paint correction move into semi-truck detailing.
How does on-site fleet washing at your yard work?
Our mobile operation carries it’s own water and power. The crew travels to your location, works through the units where they sit, and leaves. No one on your team drives vehicles to a wash bay, waits, and drives them back, which is usually the largest hidden cost in fleet cleaning.
The process is simple: schedule the program, the team comes to your location, and the vehicles are returned clean. That means agreeing on which units are in the program, when the crew can be on site, and where they can work. Yards, terminals, distribution centers and business lots all work.
How do you schedule fleet washing around routes?
Route-based scheduling is the difference between a wash program that runs and one that keeps getting canceled. The workable pattern is a fixed day and window that matches when the equipment is actually parked. For delivery and last-mile operations that is usually after the last unit is back and before the next dispatch. For service and construction fleets it is early morning before crews roll out, or end of day when trucks return. Drop trailers can be washed on their own cycle whenever they are in the yard, independent of tractors.
Shazam Detailing’s hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. If your fleet is only stationary outside those windows, raise it when you call.
Cadence is set by exposure. Units that run highway miles in winter, park outdoors, or carry heavy branding need more frequent washing than vehicles that live indoors and run light local miles.

Why does winter road salt and brine matter?
Tennessee DOT crews pre-treat highways with brine ahead of winter weather and apply salt during and after it. That mix does its job on the road and then rides home on your equipment.
Salt and brine residue sits where you cannot see it: behind wheels, inside wheel wells, along frame rails, under fairings, on the backs of mud flaps, and in every seam on the lower half of a trailer. Left through a wet winter, it accelerates corrosion on exposed metal, attacks aluminum brightwork and dulls paint. The only practical defense is frequency. Washing on a short cycle through the salt season, with attention to the underside and lower panels, removes the residue before it has time to work. Raising the cadence from December through early spring costs far less than the corrosion repair it prevents.
What does mobile fleet washing cost, and where do you work?
Fleet washing is quoted per unit and per program, based on vehicle class, unit count, frequency and site conditions. As a reference, published Shazam Detailing exterior rates start at $75 to $100 for a semi exterior wash and from $125 for bus and RV exteriors, with light vehicles starting lower. Recurring programs are quoted after a look at your equipment and your yard.

Do you wash fleets at our location or at your shop?
At your location. Mobile fleet washing is the core of the service, and the crew comes to your yard, lot or terminal with the equipment to work there. The Greenbrier shop at 2348 Industrial Drive is available if you would rather send a single vehicle in, but for multi-unit programs on-site washing saves your team hours of shuttling.
Should we wash or detail our fleet?
Both, at different intervals. Washing is what keeps the fleet looking right week to week and what removes salt, road film and brake dust before they cause damage. Detailing is what recovers a vehicle’s condition, protects paint and cleans interiors. A wash program with a periodic detail cycle covers a fleet more completely than either service alone.
Can you wash wrapped and graphics-heavy vehicles?
Yes. Wrapped units and vehicles with painted or vinyl graphics are washed by hand with attention to edges, seams and lifting points, and the crew avoids aggressive work over film. If a wrap is aging or has been repaired, mention it before the first visit so those panels get handled with extra care.
